How can YOU help?

If I may quote Elizabeth Barrett Browning: “Let me count the ways!” We would not be able to do what we do, without the help of the communities we serve.

Financial Donations

Click here to donate to the Boundary Community Food Bank

Cash donations are used for everything from paying the rent and utilities, to office supplies, to the groceries we purchase to supplement what is donated. In a typical month, that will include over 200 dozen eggs and 400 litres of milk. Clicking the donate now button will take you to a dedicated, secure page on Canada Helps where you can make a single or monthly donation using your credit card or Paypal and receive your tax receipt almost immediately. You can also visit our facility with a cash donation or mail a cheque to us at 7816A Donaldson Dr. Grand Forks BC V0H 1H1 and we will send your tax receipt in the mail. If you, or your organization is planning on collecting or fund raising on our behalf, please let us know in advance so we can promote your event.

Food Donations

Food donations are accepted at the food bank on Tuesdays, 9 – 3. There are also donation bins located at Save-On, Buy-Low and Extra Foods. If you are collecting on our behalf, please let us know in advance so we can promote your event. With a bit of notice, we can also arrange other times for you to bring your donations. A list of currently needed items can found on our home page.

Donations of Time

The Boundary Community Food Bank is 100% volunteer driven. We have between 40 & 50 volunteers who donate generously of their time, giving us anywhere from 2 hours to 20, 30 or more each month. If you’re available on Tuesdays, morning or afternoon, we schedule at least 5 people in each of those time slots, some to work with our clients putting together their hampers and others to handle their paperwork. Hamper crews need to be in reasonable physical condition with a good level of energy while the desk worker receives extra training and should be detail oriented. All of our volunteers have an awesome level of compassion and empathy. These are regularly scheduled shifts (1, 2 or even more per month – you decide how often) and we also have small crews on other days who help prepare everything for Tuesdays and still others who come when needed to help deal with large shipments or on work parties. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to give back to the community while having fun with a great group of similarly-minded people!

How can you help?

These are the most common ways the communities helpĀ  us continue our work. You may have other ideas and we’re open to hear them. If you do, or if you want further information regarding anything listed above, please drop by on a Tuesday, leave us a message at 250-442-2800 or send an email to and remember, we are YOUR Boundary Community Food Bank!
